A band from South Shields will be playing a special concert in a Tyneside pub in order to raise funds for a charity that helps support soldiers injured serving their country.

Colin Purdy, the manager of locally popular four-piece Mugshot, hopes to collect up to £3,000 for Help for Heroes with the gig, which will consist of covers of songs by Foo Fighters, Green Day, Bon Jovi, Killers and Aerosmith.

According to the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette, there are only a limited number of tickets still left to see the rock group in action, indicating that Mr Purdy may be well on the way to reaching his target.

"Last year we raised £2,500 for the charity, and this year we aim to beat that by setting ourselves the target of raising £3,000," he said.

Hope for Heroes was recently helped by the Ox and Berks Morris Minor Club, which gathered on the banks of the Thames to raise money through a barbecue, the Oxford Times reported.
