A group of bicycle enthusiasts in Cleethorpes have pledged to support soldiers wounded in service by undertaking a 2,500-mile journey.

Completing the trail for Help for Heroes, a charity that helps those injured in war, the trio will cycle round the coast of the UK, starting and ending in St Ives, Cornwall, and hope to raise around £5,000.

According to the Grimsby Telegraph, 47-year-old Mick George will be joined by 54-year-old friend Carl Walker and son Joshua, who is 15.

Mr George's stepson Andrew Locke is currently serving for the Royal Army in Cyprus and inspired the choice of charity.

He said: "It's for a great cause so we're determined to finish. I know a lot of other people in the forces as well as Andrew so it's very important to me to raise as much as we can."

Eight swimmers recently completed a relay race consisting of more than 200 kilometres of the Thames river between Gloucestershire and Twickenham, raising £15,000 for Help for Heroes.
