A local pub and ex-Hereford United player are working together to offer support to military charity Help for Heroes.

The Hereford Times reports former defender Ian Rodgerson has teamed up with The Cotterell Arms to launch an auction of sporting goods for the not-for-profit organisation.

According to the news provider, a number of Premier League football teams – such as Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle – have offered signed shirts for the cause.

In addition, the auction will also include a Gloucester Rugby jersey, a signed Nick Faldo golf glove and a Gladstone Small cricket shirt.

This follows similar charitable work carried out by the venue for Help for Heroes that took place last year in the form of a street party and various other events, which raised £1,500.

The charity was formed in October 2007 by Bryn and Emma Parry and a group of friends and aims to support those wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq.
