Single soldiers searching for a partner may be attracted to a woman because of her physical beauty rather than her social status, a study has suggested.<\/p>\n
However, researchers from the University of Wales found females often consider a man's wealth when selecting a long-term suitor.<\/p>\n
The report has been published in the journal Evolution and Human Behaviour and was led by Michael Dunn, a psychologist at the institute.<\/p>\n
According to the expert, men "focus more intently on physical attractiveness cues and these are clearly correlated with the years of maximum fertility".<\/p>\n
Women, on the other hand, tend to look at social status when picking a man – and this is often only assumed by older gentleman, he added.<\/p>\n
He therefore dismissed the notion of the toyboy as a myth.<\/p>\n
