Residents in Macclesfield are being encouraged to help raise funds for injured soldiers of the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment.<\/p>\n
Cheshire East mayor councillor Gordon Baxendale announced a hoedown and a hog roast will be held to generate the cash, the Manchester Evening News reports.<\/p>\n
It will take place in the marquee at The Waggon and Horses pub on Manchester Road in Congleton on Saturday August 21st at 19:30 BST.<\/p>\n
Proceeds from the get-together will go towards computer consoles and DVDs to help wounded troops see out their recovery periods.<\/p>\n
Mr Baxendale said he would encourage locals to attend the spectacle and "celebrate the fantastic bravery and stoicism of our servicemen and women in Afghanistan".<\/p>\n
Tickets for the gathering will cost £10 each.<\/p>\n
Fundraiser Christine Bonner is currently performing a 150-mile charity walk for the Royal Anglian Benevolent Fund.<\/p>\n
She will be accompanied by ten soldiers on her trip from Peterborough to Chelmsford.<\/p>\n
