An ex-soldier is to take to the water in an effort to help heroic troops injured in battle.<\/p>\n
Burgh le Marsh resident John Chapman will take part in every British Gas swim event held this season, the Skegness Standard reports.<\/p>\n
And the money the former serviceman – who served for six years in the Royal Regiment of Wales – raises will go to the Help for Heroes charity.<\/p>\n
The undertaking involves five one-mile outdoor contests across the UK – two of which, at Alton Waters in Suffolk and Royal Victoria Dock in London – Mr Chapman has already completed.<\/p>\n
He remarked: Everyone who has helped has been fantastic, let’s hope we can raise some money for the lads."<\/p>\n
Next up is a swim meet in Strathclyde, Scotland, which will take place on August 21st.<\/p>\n
Rock star Rod Stewart recently announced he was granting free access to members of the Armed Forces to a number of his upcoming gigs.<\/p>\n
