An Afghanistan war veteran is planning to walk the whole length of Hadrian’s Wall to raise cash for soldiers injured in battle.<\/p>\n
Captain Ed Poynter, from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles, will do the 87-mile journey on foot to support the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association, which helps troops hurt in conflict have normal lives back in Blighty.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old, from Hammersmith, told the BBC that he came back from his six-month tour of duty unscathed but that others weren’t so lucky.<\/p>\n
He therefore feels he has to do something to help other brave boys and girls return home and receive all the help they need.<\/p>\n
"I hope my effort will go some way to helping those with horrific injuries readjust to normal life," he added.<\/p>\n
Sergeant Gavin Harvey, of 6 Close Support Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, recently opened the purpose-built Physical and Recreation Training Centre in Tidworth Garrison where injured troops will have access to a super-gym and other facilities.<\/p>\n
