{"id":385,"date":"2010-07-09T20:08:08","date_gmt":"2010-07-09T20:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?385"},"modified":"2010-07-09T20:08:08","modified_gmt":"2010-07-09T20:08:08","slug":"girlfriend-so-proud-of-military-cross-hero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/girlfriend-so-proud-of-military-cross-hero\/","title":{"rendered":"Girlfriend &#8216;so proud&#8217; of Military Cross hero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The girlfriend of a soldier who was awarded with the Military Cross has explained how much she admires the heroic army man.<\/p>\n<p>Corporal Paul Mather, who received the prestigious award from Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace recently, had led soldiers in Afghanistan despite suffering from shrapnel injuries.<\/p>\n<p>According to the St Helens Star, girlfriend Lisa Flanagan said that the past 12 months have been &quot;like a dream and a nightmare&quot;, but admitted that she is glad that the soldier has now been recognised for his bravery.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&rsquo;m so proud, everyone kept coming up to him at the awards ceremony, saying they&rsquo;ve heard about what he&rsquo;s done and even thanking him.
