a special flag-raising ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Today (June 21st), the Armed Forces flag is to be hoisted in recognition of servicemen at a gathering in Corby, the Evening Telegraph reports.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Ann Brown, the town&rsquo;s mayor, will be in attendance and is to deliver a speech to show her appreciation for the troops.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Brown said the occasion will provide the opportunity to &quot;show members of our local community who have served, are still serving or will serve in Her Majesty&rsquo;s Armed Forces that we support them and are proud of them&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Armed Forces Week will be running until Saturday &ndash; which is Armed Forces Day &ndash; and it aims to celebrate soldiers of the past, present and future.<\/p>\n<p>At least 500 residents from Norwich took to the streets recently to welcome home and express their gratitude to troops native to the city who have been serving in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Posted by Mark
