An ex-serviceman will be taking to the stage this weekend in an effort to raise funds foAn ex-serviceman will be taking to the stage this weekend in an effort to raise funds for Help for Heroes.<\/p>\n
Kevin Hackett, a 52-year-old Falklands and Gulf War veteran, will be performing with his band Roxy Magic at the Armstrong Hall in Thornbury on Saturday June 19th, the Gazette reports.<\/p>\n
Mr Hackett joined the Royal Logistics Corp in 1981 and served for almost 23 years.<\/p>\n
He revealed the Help for Heroes charity is one that is very close to his heart.<\/p>\n
Of the soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan, the musician said: "They are the next generation going through what I’m going through and people need to help them."<\/p>\n
The band is a tribute act to Roxy Music and Mr Hackett used to often get told he reminded people of their frontman Bryan Ferry.<\/p>\n
England football captain Steven Gerrard recently spoke of how touched he was when the national team received a video of support from soldiers battling in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
