As well as poignant stories and black and white photos from military personnel, he includes those from other less heard from professions such as stretcher-bearers and cooks.<\/p>\n<p>These personal accounts are edited and intertwined with Alan&rsquo;s own words which even include excerpts from his own father&rsquo;s diary.
