In fact, rather than trying to have a sexual relationship with another person with common interests, people instead will be seeking to have a sexual relationship with robots.<\/p>\n
At least that is according top academic Dr Helen Driscoll. Dr Driscoll claims that advances in technology mean the way in which humans interact with robots is set to change drastically in the coming years.<\/p>\n
In fact, she claims that 'sex tech' was already advancing at such a fast rate, that by 2070, normal 'physical relationships' will go out of fashion.<\/p>\n
Although Robophilia may seem weird now, Dr Driscoll claims that it will become the norm in the near future as attitudes evolve with technology.<\/p>\n
At the moment, people can already order mannequins and gigantic sex dolls. But as the advancements of technology draws nearer, robotic, interactive, motion-sensing software will allow people to become more acquainted with their robotic friends.<\/p>\n
Dr Driscoll, said: "It could really start to enable mannequin partners to 'come to life. We tend to think about issues such as virtual reality and robotic sex within the context of current norms.<\/p>\n
"But if we think back to the social norms about sex that existed just 100 years ago, it is obvious that they have changed rapidly and radically. As virtual reality becomes more realistic and immersive and is able to mimic and even improve on the experience of sex with a human partner; it is conceivable that some will choose this in preference to sex with a less than perfect human being."<\/p>\n
She added that people should not place more value on physical relationships than they do on virtual relationships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
