{"id":3089,"date":"2015-05-20T17:10:11","date_gmt":"2015-05-20T17:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?3089"},"modified":"2015-05-20T17:10:11","modified_gmt":"2015-05-20T17:10:11","slug":"ssafa-team-up-with-openreach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/ssafa-team-up-with-openreach\/","title":{"rendered":"SSAFA team up with Openreach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The military charity SSAFA and BT's Openreach have teamed up to participate in a number of fundraising activities in order to help ex-soldiers, particularly those who have been injured in war.<\/p>\n<p>Openreach has always traditionally assisted ex soldiers and&nbsp;actively recruited ex-military personnel to boost the rollout of fibre optics and cables.<\/p>\n<p>Over 2,000 veterans have been recruited by Openreach so far.<\/p>\n<p>Across the UK, there are around 400 military Reservists who combine military roles with their civilian careers.<\/p>\n<p>A recent project between the SSAFA and Openreach saw hundreds of cyclists participate in a charity ride that raised over &pound;20,000 to support military veterans and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The Victory ride took place between May 17th-18th and started from Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>Openreach sponsored eight riders to take part in the ride.<\/p>\n<p>However, further events are in the pipeline, thanks to the new partnership between Openreach and SSAFA.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the developments, David Murray, chief executive, said: &ldquo;This ground-breaking partnership with Openreach is the first of its kind for SSAFA and we are excited to find a partner who shares our desire to ensure our Armed Forces and their families receive the support they deserve wherever and whenever they need it.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Like Openreach, SSAFA enjoys a strong and trusted relationship with the communities in which we operate and we will look forward to working together on a range of activities to engage Openreach employees whilst raising awareness of the vital work that SSAFA does.&rdquo;<br> Upcoming fundraising events include the &nbsp;&lsquo;Big <a class=\"glossaryLink\"  aria-describedby=\"tt\"  data-cmtooltip=\"&lt;div class=glossaryItemTitle&gt;Brew&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;div class=glossaryItemBody&gt;What Does Brew Mean?Branch: Army\/RAF&amp;lt;br\/&amp;gt;Definition: What exactly does &amp;quot;brew&amp;quot; mean?
