The Gi recruitment group has paid a special visit to the Help for Heroes Recovery Centre, Tedworth House, in celebration of Give and Gain Day, it has been reported.

Volunteers from the firm came to help out with tasks in the woodlands and garden surrounding the centre, and helped to make new bird boxes and benches.

The idea was to help nurture the environment which supports recovery by providing quiet and reflective spaces for wounded soldiers.

In addition, the team from the Gi Group were given a tour of Tedworth House and went on to learn more about how the money they raise is used.

Speaking about the event, Jess Watts, chief executive of the Gi Group, said: "Choosing Help for Heroes was a decision based on the strong synergies between the two organisations – which both passionately strive to help improve the lives and prospects of those they work with. It is a strong cultural fit and a charity the company has been proud to adopt.

“We are already a highly motivated fundraising organisation but the selection of Help for Heroes as our designated charity will help us make a real impact by focusing staff engagement, effort and resource even further."

The Gi Group selected Help for Heroes as their charity partner of choice and are aiming to raise £50,000 for the organisation through a wide range of fundraising activities – from cake sales and skydiving to a fundraising ball.

Steve King from Southampton Gi described the experience of helping out on the day as "an eye opener".

He added: "Coming today has given me an appreciation of how in-depth the support is that Help for Heroes provides. This is a place I'd like to be for years and years; always here to provide support."
