{"id":2988,"date":"2014-12-15T14:54:35","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T14:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?2988"},"modified":"2014-12-15T14:54:35","modified_gmt":"2014-12-15T14:54:35","slug":"rugby-match-set-to-raise-funds-for-help-for-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/rugby-match-set-to-raise-funds-for-help-for-heroes\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby match set to raise funds for Help for Heroes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A rugby match that will showcase the very best of what the sport in England has to offer will be taking place in Milton Keynes this April, with the showcase event raising money for the military charity Help for Heroes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a repeat of the Premiership Final from 2014, Northampton Saints will take on Saracens at Stadium MK as the Midlands venue gets ready to host a number of games in the rugby World Cup later in the year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The match has already managed to drum up some excitement from fans of the sport in the area ahead of what will be the biggest year yet for rugby in the Midlands. And given that the game will take place just after St George's Day, Saints have decided to mark the match by raising money for injured service personnel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Premiership Rugby's official website, Saints will be wearing a special edition charity shirt at the game, with proceeds from the sale of this shirt to supporters all going to Help for Heroes. The club also said that the British Army will play a big part in the day, although no further details have been released about how this will happen as of yet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Saints chief executive Allan Robson says that the tie-up with Help for Heroes is particularly relevant thanks to ties in the past between the two organisations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Saints has had a long relationship with the British Army that goes all the way back to Edgar Mobbs, with many more players also giving service to their country, the likes of Tim Rodber, John Steele, Mattie Stewart and Chris Budgen, to name just a few,&quot; he said. &quot;<\/p>\n<p>We work with a considerable number of charities and good causes throughout the course of a season, but with the 'Best of English' game coming just a couple of days after St George's Day we felt that using the game to support Help for Heroes was relevant, and are looking forward to using the occasion raise significant funds.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The rugby boss also went on to add that the army's involvement in the day's events will be almost as exciting as the game itself, which he said will showcase the very best of what the country has to offer, especially if it gets anywhere near the original final's levels of excitement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Saints report that the special Hero shirt will be Tudor red and white, with green and gold representing the club's traditional colours, and will cost &pound;54.99 for adults and &pound;42.99 for kids' sizes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sales of tickets for the match itself are also currently selling well, with over two-thirds of the stadium having been sold out already.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, one family in Creeting St Mary, near Needham Market is getting into the Christmas spirit and using their substantial decorations as a way to raise funds for military charities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Beryl Holden has been putting the lights up at her home in the area for years, and now with the help of friend Denise Hales, she hopes to be able to raise a substantial &pound;1,000 for Help for Heroes.
