<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Christmas concert is being held at Hereford Cathedral in order to raise money for injured service personnel and the people who stand by them in their time of need, the Hereford Times has reported. <\/p>\n
The Christmas carol concert will feature songs performed by three different choirs, as well as a speech given by journalist and writer Quentin Letts. All funds raised will be given to the military supporting The Soldiers' Charity. <\/p>\n
It is one of the largest events on the calendar for the charity when it comes to bringing in funding, so the event, which takes place on December 19th, will be hotly anticipated. It is a bi-annual occurrence that is welcomed by locals and servicemen alike. <\/p>\n
Sarah Adams – who lost her son James Prosser while he was serving with The Royal Welsh in Afghanistan – will also lead speakers at the concert. Since she lost her son, Ms Adams has dedicated herself to raising funding for the charity, and in the past few years she has managed to bring in tens of thousands of pounds. <\/p>\n
She has also set up the Community Covenant in the local area, which supports families who are grieving injury or loss of those serving in the military.<\/p>\n
She told the news source: “I'm just a Mum missing her son, but I also know that we must improve the lives of the soldiers we still have and support their families. <\/p>\n
“The Soldiers’ Charity is part of my family now and it means so much to us that in some small way we can help them make a difference to the lives of others. It’s so very important to remember the sacrifices that are made for us.”<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, it has been announced that a new military charity song will hit the shelves in time for Christmas this year, marking 100 years since the first Christmas in the trenches back in 1914. <\/p>\n
The track, entitled 1914 – The Carol of Christmas, celebrates the power of the festive season as a tool for bringing together people in peace at a time of conflict. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
