Zachary Raphael Torrance, from Alabama, has been arrested and accused of robbing a number of different Subway restaurants in his home state after he felt aggrieved that his diet wasn't paying off.<\/p>\n
Mr Torrance had been on the Subway diet, made famous by Subway's own spokesman Jared Fogle, who lost weight by changing from junk food to Subway, cutting out high fat condiments along the way. However, Mr Torrance did not see the level of success that he had hoped for, and he decided he wanted a refund. <\/p>\n
After targetting four of the popular restaurants at gunpoint, Mr Torrance was eventually arrested when a customer recognised his distinctive orange shoes on released CCTV footage. <\/p>\n
Police chief Chuck Hagler said: "He told the detective that he had been on the Subway diet and it had not worked for him and he felt like he wanted his money back.<\/p>\n
"The detective felt like he was being serious."<\/p>\n
In other weird food-related news, a rather ambitious musician has landed lucky after selling "the world's longest Hula Hoop" online for more than £700. <\/p>\n
Stuart Hampton, 31, from Darnhill in Greater Manchester, found the gargantuan crisp and decided to list it on eBay rather than eating it. The winning bid came in at £712. <\/p>\n
And what is Mr Hampton going to spend the money on? Apparently he wants to open a commune. <\/p>\n
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, he said: "I was walking down the street just cracking up laughing about it but if I do get the money it is definitely going towards my commune. <\/p>\n
"The venture is known as the Freeriver Community. According to the website, it ‘is a space that will hold a spiritual and peaceful intention. It will be very free in nature with no set ideas."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
