<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"One-time Britain's Got Talent contestant and internationally successful singer Susan Boyle has been supporting Poppyscotland for some time, and recently helped out at an Edinburgh poppy factory.<\/p>\n
The charity reports that Boyle was on hand at Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory on September 22nd where she helped load poppies onto distribution vehicles that will be taking them to Scotland's volunteers.<\/p>\n
She also got to say hello to 40 disabled veterans who work on poppy production at the facility, which makes five million poppies and over 10,000 wreaths every year.<\/p>\n
Poppyscotland is in charge of running the Scottish Poppy Appeal which takes place during November.<\/p>\n
"It was a pleasure to meet the veterans who make poppies all year round for the Scottish Poppy Appeal before sending them to the many volunteers across the country," Susan has told the charity.<\/p>\n
"It is a fascinating process and I hope that when the poppies start to appear in our shops, schools and businesses in the coming weeks, the Scottish public will once again show their support."<\/p>\n
Boyle came to public attention when she appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2009: Her audition went viral online.<\/p>\n
Although she came second to Diversity, a dance troupe, in the competition, she has still had an incredibly successful career as a singer since.<\/p>\n
To date she has released no fewer than five top ten song collections, starting with her 2009 number one I Dreamed a Dream (she famously used the song of that name, which Fantine sings in the first act of famed musical Les Miserables, to audition with for Britain's Got Talent).<\/p>\n
Manager at Lady Haig’s, Charlie Pelling, has told Poppyscotland that there has been a lot of demand when it comes to remembrance items such as wreaths in 2014, due to events around the centenary of World War One, and the factory is expecting such demand to carry on during the coming four years.<\/p>\n
