<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Britain's Wheelchair Rugby team are set to have their first match of the Invictus Games against the team representing Denmark, it has been revealed.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Wheelchair Basketball team's first game will see them facing Australia, newly published fixtures for the sporting occasion's blue ribbon team events reveal.<\/p>\n
The Games will kick off this month, on September 10th, and run to September 14th. The competitors will be sick and injured service people.<\/p>\n
Following their game against Denmark on the morning of September 12th at the Copper Box Arena (Session one), our Wheelchair Rugby players will face New Zealand for a Session two Pool B tie.<\/p>\n
Later the same day, should the British representatives in the game – sometimes called murderball – make the 1pm semi-final, they will be playing against the USA, Italy or Australia. The final will take place later that day, as part of Session three. <\/p>\n
Tickets to this evening session give people the chance to see a celeb match featuring Prince Harry, Kelly Holmes and others.<\/p>\n
Prince Harry launched the Games, and his Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry is one of the event's big supporters.<\/p>\n
On September 13th, it's time for Wheelchair Basketball, staged at the same venue. After their Session one Australia match, our team will play France and New Zealand in Session two, in an attempt to reach the Session three semi final.<\/p>\n
The final day of the Games, September 14th, will see the Copper Box host Sitting Volleyball.<\/p>\n
Should they pass the preliminary stages and be there to play on the day, Britain would be part of Session one in the morning and Session two – featuring the final – in the afternoon, come the 14th.<\/p>\n
Before then, they face Australia, followed by New Zealand and the Netherlands in an effort to secure their place on the last day of the volleyball tournament.<\/p>\n
All in all, over 400 service people will participate in these and the other sports being offered at the Games.<\/p>\n
These sick, injured and wounded people – some serving, some who have served in the past – are going to tackle nine different adaptive sports between September 10th and 14th.<\/p>\n
Copper Box Arena is part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This is also set to be the venue for National Paralympic Day events on August 30th. These include a London Aquatics Centre international swimming contest. Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia and Goalball competitions are also planned there on this day, which includes the Mayor of London’s Liberty Festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
