A team of officers from Thames Valley Police will don their cycling helmets for a bike rA team of officers from Thames Valley Police will don their cycling helmets for a bike ride challenge to France in a bid to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.<\/p>\n
Eight bobbies will make the journey to Paris – including detective inspectors and a sergeant – and they will be joined by the parents of students at the Abbey School in Reading, the Bicester Advertiser reports.<\/p>\n
The challenge will begin at the Gherkin in the City of London and continue to Folkstone before the participants jump on the Eurostar to Calais.<\/p>\n
Once they touch down across the channel they will spend three days riding down to the capital.<\/p>\n
Inspector Emily Roberts, one of those who will be taking part, told the newspaper that the effort will be worthwhile in the end.<\/p>\n
"The team and I are dedicated to making sure we cycle all the way to Paris for this good cause. Looking at the maps it is a long way and we appreciate all the support we have had so far in raising £3,791," she added.<\/p>\n
