So you've met the love of your life online. You've been on a date – maybe starting with a drink and moving on to dinner and a film. One of the next things you might consider, after the romance has been in place for some time, is heading on holiday.<\/p>\n

Romantic breaks are a popular option for couples and can be fitted in among working life, for example over a weekend.<\/p>\n

Recent research from Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has discovered some of the ingredients to an ideal romantic weekend break.<\/p>\n

It would include close to three hours worth of shopping, it seems, as well as almost as much time devoted to extra time in bed daily.<\/p>\n

Over eight hours of eating and drinking also play a part, a poll of Brits suggested, as does £260 to spend and four star boutique hotel accommodation.<\/p>\n

A romantic pair's first weekend break should apparently happen six months after they become a couple, the research suggests.<\/p>\n

Yet five per cent of the sample would happily head away with a partner they'd known for only a day!<\/p>\n

A fifth of couples said a romantic weekend away had saved their relationship.<\/p>\n

And most said their relationship had been strengthened by a weekend break.<\/p>\n

"Everyone needs to be able to switch-off from time to time, rekindle relationships and do the things that you love to do," commented Glasgow City Marketing Bureau's Minty Woolgar.<\/p>\n
