{"id":2781,"date":"2014-04-25T17:10:39","date_gmt":"2014-04-25T17:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?2781"},"modified":"2014-04-25T17:10:39","modified_gmt":"2014-04-25T17:10:39","slug":"woman-knits-hats-for-british-soldiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/woman-knits-hats-for-british-soldiers\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman knits hats for British soldiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British soldiers based in Afghanistan have been keeping warm thanks to the knitwear of one dedicated supporter in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Tina Selby, 51, who lives in Penarth, near Cardiff, initially decided to make 500 hats as part of her Hats for Heroes scheme.<\/p>\n<p>She has now been awarded the British Empire Medal for her services, which have helped many thousands of soldiers since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Her aim now is to continue knitting until she has sent out a total of 17,000 hats to soldiers across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I was proud and humbled to receive the award.
