Running a marathon sounds like an awful lot of hard work to most of us at the best of times, and that's without pulling it off in a bizarre fashion that only adds to the pain.

Metro has published a guide to some of the more unusual runners at the London Marathon, which was held through the streets of the capital on Sunday (April 13th).

For instance, it picked out Sasha Kenney, 34, who ran the entire 26.2-mile distance while hula hooping in 2012.

Also running with a handicap in 2013 were two people who completed the course while wearing wedding dresses, and on a similar theme, Andrew Ford and Katrina Scaife stopped halfway round in 2011 to actually tie the knot.

Uli Kilian managed to complete 100 Rubik's cubes while running three years ago and Tony Barrance set a world record when he dribbled a football the whole way round the marathon.
