A retail manager has successfully completed a special relay race that saw him cycle between Debenhams stores.

Simon Cucklow, who is the store manager at the outlet in High Road, Ilford, took part in the event to raise money for Help for Heroes, reports the Ilford Recorder.

His role was to ride from the Romford branch to the Ilford store, a challenge he completed in a respectable time of 23 minutes.

He was just one of several Debenhams staff who took on the fundraiser and managed to cycle between a number of the company's stores.

The overall aim of Debenhams is to raise £75,000 for Help for Heroes, with each rider in the relay asked to generate at least £100 for the good cause.

"Customers were extremely generous, however we wanted to do something more to raise further funds so that's how the East Anglia Cyclathon has come about," Mr Cucklow explained.
