A dog has been filmed in a car using the horn to give its owners a reminder to return from their day out.

Graham and Fiona Haddow had been visiting an art gallery and left their pet in the car, when boxer Fern became impatient.

While most people might expect such a creature to start barking, Fern decided that a few blasts of the car's horn would be the right way to alert her owners.

Passers-by stopped to take photos and record videos of the animal as it repeatedly made a noise over a period of about 15 minutes.

Mr Haddow admitted he feared the worst when he finally returned to his vehicle to find it surrounded by people.

"When I got closer I realised people were pointing and laughing and taking pictures. She was sitting in there casually honking the horn," he explained.

Mrs Haddow speculated that it was like Fern had been demanding to know where the couple were, adding the dog is "a bit of a diva".
