A soldier returning from Afghanistan was caught up in an emotion moment when he met his baby daughter for the first time – and her Carly Rae Jepsen-inspired poster.

Seven-month-old Harper Tesar was at the airport to meet US Army Specialist Cole Tesar, who was returning from a nine-month stint in Afghanistan.

But she did not turn up unprepared, as she was holding a banner that read: "Hey I just met you and this is crazy, but my name's Harper and I'm your baby!"

The poster was, of course, a play on words inspired by the lyrics of Jepsen's hit single Call Me Maybe.

Officer Cole said he cannot believe how quickly the image has spread across the globe, picking up 1.5 million 'likes' on Facebook in the process.

"It is kind of different because it is my own baby. It is our own blood. It is definitely special and it is a pretty good feeling," he stated.
