A woman had to resort to desperate measures in order to remove a hiding python from one of the loudspeakers in her home.

After being discovered by the owner of a property in Stockholm, the snake opted to flee to the comfort of the inside of the speaker where it hid for some time.

In a desperate bid to get it out, the woman called in the Skansen aquarium and its experts are seen in a YouTube clip using a dead mouse as bait to entice the python out of her sound system.

"We decided to offer the snake a dead, delicious mouse right by the hole of the loudspeaker," managing director of the aquarium Jonas Wahlstrom said, adding: "It finally poked its head out and we grabbed it."

It is still not known exactly how the snake came to be in the woman's home, but authorities believe it may have been a pet who belonged to a neighbour.
