Staff working at Purbeck District Council in Dorset have come together to raise more than £600 for Help for Heroes.

The employees worked to organise a quiz night and a raffle at the Kings Arms in Stoborough, which attracted 12 teams in total and was won by 'Peter and the Geeks', reports the Dorset Newsroom.

Several companies, including The Rex Cinema, Monkey World, Sainsbury's and South West Trains, all donated great prizes to ensure the raffle was as attractive as possible.

Steve Mackenzie, chief executive of Purbeck District Council, said: "The evening was a huge success and I am extremely grateful to the staff that organised the event and everyone who attended."

In the end, the quiz was extremely closely fought, ensuring there was plenty of drama surrounding who would take the first prize.

Lida Mutton, one of those who organised the event, added Help for Heroes is close to her heart so she is delighted the evening was such a success.
