A soldier from the Ribble Valley has worked tirelessly to raise more than £100,000 for various military charities.

Sergeant Rick Clement, who hails from Chatburn, suffered serious injuries while serving in Afghanistan in 2010, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

He set up a charity called A Soldier's Journey following his unfortunate accident in the combat zone four years ago.

The soldier was leading a foot patrol when he stepped on a landmine, which blew off both his legs and seriously hurt one of his arms.

At a recent boxing event in Blackpool, sergeant Clement passed the £100,000 mark in terms of the money he has raised.

Speaking beforehand on Twitter, he said: "In just a few days, we will have reached our target £100,000, but we aren't stopping there."

Money raised through A Soldier's Journey is distributed to a number of charities, including Help for Heroes, the British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association and the Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Families Association.
