The ability of a man to play the bagpipes has resulted in him being able to make a £10,000 donation to charity.

Nigel Warmington has played on Lemon Quay in Truro for the last three years in order to raise as much cash as possible for Help for Heroes, reports This is Cornwall.

As a former helicopter pilot in the services, he knows all about the importance of supporting injured and wounded military personnel.

Mr Warmington has previously served in the Falklands and was part of the peacekeeping operation in Bosnia.

He explained he was first motivated to pick up his bagpipes as he wanted to do something to support those who were coming home with limbs missing.

"I have been quite staggered by the number of donations we have received and I'm very grateful to the public," the bagpiper added.

Having first learned to play the bagpipes ten years ago while stationed in Kinloss, his talent has now made a huge difference to his fellow servicemen.
