Combat Stress is just one of several charities that has benefited from the excellent work of a veterans' group in Scotland.

The volunteers organised the Angus 4 Forces Charity Ball, which took place at the end of October at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel and raised some £7,000, reports the Arbroath Herald.

It means cheques of £1,750 could be written to four different charities, with Combat Stress being presented with the sum at a special ceremony.

Commando 999, the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Scottish Veterans' Residences were the other good causes to be given a cheque by the Angus 4 Forces committee.

Vic Cowie of Combat Stress was the chosen representative of the charity as she received the money from the group.

Combat Stress works to help former military personnel on the path back to full health following a traumatic experience while serving their country.
