A man has covered 305 miles on a static bike in a bid to raise much-needed funds for Help for Heroes.

Car salesman Richard Taylor, who was previously a Parachute Regiment sergeant major, took on the challenge in aid of the military charity, reports the Bath Chronicle.

He allocated 30 hours to ride the full distance on the bike, which was positioned at his workplace at Platinum Vauxhall in Trowbridge.

The number of miles he cycled was equivalent to the distance between Trowbridge and Vauxhall's factory in Ellesmere Port in Merseyside, via a stop at the company's offices in London.

Despite giving himself 30 hours to ride the full distance, he managed to finish with around five hours to spare.

It remains to be seen exactly how much money the former military man will raise, but people have been reminded they can still add to his fund online.
