{"id":250,"date":"2010-04-22T17:06:52","date_gmt":"2010-04-22T17:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?250"},"modified":"2010-04-22T17:06:52","modified_gmt":"2010-04-22T17:06:52","slug":"inspirational-9-year-old-wins-award-for-fundraising-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/inspirational-9-year-old-wins-award-for-fundraising-efforts\/","title":{"rendered":"Inspirational 9-year-old wins award for fundraising efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An inspirational nine-year-old &ndash; who lost both her legs to meningitis seven years ago &ndash; has won an award for her fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Lydia Cross has helped to raise an astonishing &pound;14,000 for the Help for Heroes charity by taking part in a sponsored swim and for her labours she was presented with a Rotary Young Citizen Award on Saturday (April 17th), the North Devon Gazette reports.<\/p>\n<p>With former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq presenting the award, Lydia said: &quot;I wanted to raise money for the soldiers because I know if I do they will be able to get better things to help them.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>But the youngster&rsquo;s fundraising efforts are not ending there.
