A football club's charity day in aid of Help for Heroes was a success, despite the poor weather attendees were forced to deal with.

Windsor FC welcomed more than 440 people to its ground in St Leonard's Road last Saturday (November 2nd) for a fun day designed to support the charity, reports the Royal Borough Observer.

The fun day coincided with the club's match against Ash United, allowing fans to watch the football while their families took part in the special events.

More than £1,000 was raised for the charity and Windsor FC secretary Steve Rowland admitted the day had gone "very well", with the club receiving plenty of positive emails and tweets afterwards.

"There is a lot of affinity with the town and the barracks and this has given the public the chance to get an insight into what all of them do," he explained.

Among the attractions on offer were a rifle range and a Help for Heroes merchandise stall.
