Shoppers in Fenland have chosen to back Help for Heroes to the tune of £1,130 in just two days.

A collection was held outside the Tesco store in Wisbech on September 14th and 15th and it has now been revealed that an impressive total was taken, reports the Wisbech Standard.

IT consultant Peter Bryant organised the fundraising campaign, adding to his record of work on behalf of the charity, for whom he has raised £9,000 in the last 18 months.

"I would like to thank the generous shoppers at Tesco … I've spoken to the people at Help for Heroes and they were impressed at the amount raised," he explained.

The effort at Tesco comes just weeks after Mr Bryant arranged a similar collection outside an Asda store in Wisbech, raising £1,200.

He also took part in the Paris to London Big Battlefield Bike Ride that took six days to complete and finished at London's Horse Guards Parade.
