{"id":24,"date":"2009-12-16T16:43:05","date_gmt":"2009-12-16T16:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?24"},"modified":"2009-12-16T16:43:05","modified_gmt":"2009-12-16T16:43:05","slug":"first-of-extra-500-troops-touch-down-at-camp-bastion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/first-of-extra-500-troops-touch-down-at-camp-bastion\/","title":{"rendered":"First of extra 500 troops touch down at Camp Bastion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Troops serving in Afghanistan have welcomed the first of 500 new friendly faces deployed to help them smash the Taliban to pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the first wave of extra soldiers, from the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh, arrived on a C-130 Hercules aircraft after leaving the Dale Barracks in Chester.<\/p>\n<p>Corporal Andrew Wrigley said as he stepped off the plane that he can&rsquo;t wait to stand side-by-side with those already on the frontline.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It feels good, we&rsquo;ve come to back-up the guys who are already here and hopefully make a bit of difference,&quot; he stated.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s exactly how 2nd Lieutenant John Murphy felt as well.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It feels good, it feels like you&rsquo;re doing an important job.
