Help for Heroes has lavished praise on a female golfer who has been teaching wounded soldiers in Colchester how to play the sport.

Sarah Bennett, the head PGA teaching professional at Essex's Three Rivers Golf and Country Club, has taken the time to help ex-servicemen develop new skills on the course, reports Golf Club Management.

She had her own career cut short in 2005 when she suffered a neurological balance disorder, which meant she had to undergo four years of rehabilitation.

As such, she is ideally placed to know exactly what wounded soldiers are going through and how it may be difficult for them to do the things they once loved.

Steve Schollar, Help for Heroes general manager at Chavasse VC House Recovery Centre in Colchester, said: "Sarah has proved an inspiration in helping the soldiers into new hobbies and giving them the self-confidence to try new activities."
