The Sun reported that Trooper Corie Mapp had made a vow to be able to walk again on false legs in time for his fellow heroes’ return home from the Middle East.<\/p>\n
He was one of the worst-injured members of C Squadron, the Household Cavalry, when his tank encountered a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
While he described the experience of learning how to walk again as a "mental battle, he told the newspaper he wanted to stand for his fellow servicemen, as well as for his own three children.<\/p>\n
He said: "You can’t just sit down and decide that because your legs have come off you give up on life."<\/p>\n
The proud dad stood to attention at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, Berkshire using sticks to keep balanced.<\/p>\n
Along with his colleagues, Trooper Mapp was presented with a medal for his service.<\/p>\n
Recently, a group of wounded heroes from Scotland took to the catwalk in New York City in support of our troops at Sir Sean Connery’s Dressed to Kilt event, which raised money for charity.<\/p>\n
