A team of volunteers in Bexley raised more than £3,000 for Help for Heroes after taking part in a special truck pulling contest.<\/p>\n
This is Local London has told how the team of 24 individuals dragged a 32-tonne army truck for two miles in a bid to raise cash for the military charity.<\/p>\n
It took more than an hour to complete the task and more than 200 people turned up to watch, with some £3,145 generated for the charity in the process.<\/p>\n
Organiser and truck puller Barry Saunders said: "It was mega hard, much more difficult than I thought it was going to be. It had us a bit at times and it was a mission but we got through it."<\/p>\n
Local police, fire and ambulance services were also in attendance at the unique event with recruitment stands as part of an effort to attract more people to their trades.
