Help for Heroes (H4H) has been given money raised through a street party in Morecambe.

Nearly £2,000 was collected during the Jubilee Street Party in June and this money has now been divided between H4H and St John's Hospice in Lancaster, Virtual Lancaster reports.

Councillor David Kerr, chairman of Morecambe Town Council, said: "I would like to pay tribute to the large number of local people and community groups who helped to organise the event and make it a success."

He added without the help and support of these individuals, the party would not have been as successful as it was.

Mr Kerr also praised the "excellent supportive work" that H4H is associated with, as it means armed forces members are being given the care they are entitled to.

Two local soldiers were on hand to receive the cheque for the military charity and the cash will be used to improve the services offered to injured personnel.
