An annual event held in the market town of Petersfield has raised nearly £27,000 for Help for Heroes (H4H).

The prestigious event was organised by Clive and Monica Waller from CWC Research, the Petersfield Post reports.

All of the money is going to a special H4H-sponsored fund designed to offer business training to injured marines so they can get a job when they re-enter civilian life.

Robin Hollington set up the foundation in memory of his son Royal Marine Richard Hollington and so far the group has managed to collect almost £250,000.

"Those with significant injuries are restricted – to a degree – in what they can do and won't be mobile in the job world and will need ongoing help for a long time," he added.

Because of this, Mr Hollington thinks it is essential that the government continues to support the military, even once they have withdrew from Afghanistan.
