Prince Harry is looking to trek to the South Pole in support of injured military personnel.

The royal, who has just finished a tour of duty in Afghanistan, took part in the early stages of the Walking With The Wounded trek to the North Pole in 2011 and is already a patron of the South Pole version.

He said he met a "bunch of military guys who are really sound" back in 2011 and is hoping to complete the entire challenge this time around.

The Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge will see teams cover 210 miles over a four-week period, while facing temperatures as low as minus 45 degrees C.

Harry stated he will "always have a connection with … wounded servicemen and women" because of the experiences he has had while in the army.

The prince also said that more effort has to be put in to looking after the armed forces once they pull out of Afghanistan.
