{"id":195,"date":"2010-03-17T12:58:39","date_gmt":"2010-03-17T12:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?195"},"modified":"2010-03-17T12:58:39","modified_gmt":"2010-03-17T12:58:39","slug":"online-daters-more-honest-than-people-might-think","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/online-daters-more-honest-than-people-might-think\/","title":{"rendered":"Online daters &#8216;more honest than people might think&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the armed forces who are about to develop an internet dating profile may be reassured by the fact that more people are honest in online descriptions of themselves than they might have previously thought. <\/p>\n<p>The Guardian cites a study undertaken by Mitja Back, a psychologist at Johannes Gutenburg-University of Mainz, which found that daters do not tend to adopt a different persona on social networking sites.<\/p>\n<p>Some 236 people were asked to fill in questionnaire to give an idea of personality traits such as extroversion and openness, while independent observers assessed the participants&rsquo; online profiles to see whether their internet personalities corresponded with real life.<\/p>\n<p>And the good news is, they did! Outgoing people were honest about their vivacious personality, while introverts admitted to not being the most confident of people. <\/p>\n<p>Recent research undertaken by Kansas communication studies professor Jeffrey Hall and published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships revealed that if anyone is going to exaggerate an online dating profile, it is more likely to be men.
