Drawing up an online dating profile is a tricky prospect for anyone looking for love.

People will want to come across as interesting and confident, but at the same time they will be keen to avoid giving away too much information.

Finding this perfect balance could be the difference between being invited on a slew of dates and being left fidgeting while waiting for the offers to come in.

Julie Spira, an online dating expert and relationship coach, noted people should not be afraid to cast a wide net in their search for love.

Writing in the Huffington Post, she stated: "Don't be too judgemental or you will appear like a Debbie or Donny Downer. Leave the negative adjectives out of your profile and focus on more positive statements."

Ms Spira added individuals should never be afraid to talk about their family when on a date, as strong family values are seen as a positive trait.
