Cocktails are always a popular option on a night out.

However, I would not like to think about how much money you would need if Salvatore Calabrese was your bartender.

One of the world's leading mixologists, Mr Calabrese has created a drink that costs £5,500 a glass – and he is claiming it is the dearest cocktail in the world.

It uses a 1778 cognac, a 1770 liqueur, a 1860 Curacao and bitters from 1900, which means every ingredient is over 100 years old.

The cocktail, which is available at the Playboy Club in London and has been termed Salvatore's Legacy, is described as a classic blend of vintage ingredients.

A drink is currently available at The Skyview Bar at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai that costs £3,766.52 a glass, but Mr Calabrese has managed to overtake this with his outlandish creation.
