{"id":1757,"date":"2012-09-26T11:57:58","date_gmt":"2012-09-26T11:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/p=?1757"},"modified":"2012-09-26T11:57:58","modified_gmt":"2012-09-26T11:57:58","slug":"cancer-patient-helps-injured-soldiers-with-special-bucket-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forcespenpals.net\/gb\/news\/cancer-patient-helps-injured-soldiers-with-special-bucket-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Cancer patient helps injured soldiers with special bucket list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A terminally-ill cancer patient has placed helping injured soldiers at the top of his bucket list.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Mitchell, a former public relations (PR) man, decided to use his time and contacts to help others after being diagnosed with lymphoma, the Daily Mail reports.<\/p>\n<p>And while the Blackpool resident has been busy helping ill children meet their idols &ndash; such as Top Gear favourites Richard Hammond and the Stig &ndash; he has also worked with Lancashire charity A Ray of Sunshine to arrange special trips abroad for wounded servicemen and women.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mitchell used his contacts in the PR world to organise free flights, car hire and entertainment for the soldiers, who included former SAS man Terry Mair.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was great to get away and forget about a few things.
