A former soldier has run 90 miles in just three days in an effort to help out a military charity.

Richard Burn, who served in the Second Battalion Royal Anglian for five years, was raising money for Help for Heroes.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News, he suffered a number of injuries – including breaking his big toe – but still managed to complete his challenge.

"There's a big sigh of relief it's over and a sense of achievement. It has been quite emotional – there was a tear or two. Now I am starting to feel the pain," Mr Burn added.

He was particularly thankful for all of the assistance he received while undertaking the challenge, especially from his mum and friends, who followed him in a support vehicle.

The 23-yeasr-old ran from Waterlooville to the Portsmouth Naval Memorial and he admitted images of his comrades in the army inspired him whenever he was struggling.
