A military mum is walking 150 miles to raise money for the Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity.

Christine Bonner will cover the distance – which will take her through Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex – in just ten days, the Hemel Gazette reports.

It is the fifth time that Ms Bonner has taken on a charity walk and so far she has collected over £187,000.

She was inspired to take up the challenge after her son was killed while on a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

"I just had to do something that is positive. I can keep my son's memory alive, as well as raising money for his comrades that he stood side by side with," Ms Bonner told the paper.

In the past year, the Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity has handed out £105,000 to over 250 different cases.

The money has been used to support many projects, such as assisting soldiers on operations in Afghanistan or helping ex-servicemen and women and their families.
