Some people really get themselves worried and in a state for no reason.

This is especially true of one woman from the UK, who recently rang 999 because she had lost her specs.

She was standing outside Specsavers, but after being unable to locate her glasses took the drastic action of getting the police on the case.

Unsurprisingly, the force was not too impressed with this complete waste of their time.

Superintendent Craig Downham cautioned: "There's been a marked increase in this. The 999 number should only be used when life is threatened, people are injured, or there are offenders nearby."

Another lady phoned the cops and asked them to check her plug sockets because the fire service had refused the request.

It does seem ridiculous that these people think it is acceptable to get on the blower over such trivial issues and I hate to think what way they would get on if there was actually something wrong with them.
