Residents of Moffat, Dumfriesshire, in Scotland may have created the world's greatest spectator sport.

This is because the first ever town centre sheep racing competition was held in the location over the weekend.

With the Olympic Games now over for another four years, individuals will be keen to find something else to watch and this could be just the ticket.

Organiser Thomas MacDonald hopes it can become an annual event, with it eventually stretching out to a week-long celebration.

"It is very popular down south and we thought an event like this would really tie in with the town, the community and the history," Mr MacDonald told the BBC.

People were allowed to make £1 bets on who they thought would be crowned the winner.

I don't know how many sheep were involved, but if any of them were called Ewe-sain Bolt then I would have put my house on them.
